Ways to Quickly Improve Credit

Your credit score has a big impact on your ability to borrow money to purchase a home. If your credit score isn’t where you want it to be, this blog is for you! Our team of mortgage lenders in Lake Ozark, MO works with borrowers with a wide range of credit scores. We have options that may work with your unique situation but we also suggest a few techniques to raise your credit score. Check them out:

Check Credit

The first step in improving your credit is knowing what your credit score is. Once you know your score, you can start taking steps to improve it. This step also gives you the chance to see what negative remarks are on your credit history. If there is an invalid entry on your credit, you can petition to have it removed. We highly recommend researching any ding on your credit that is not valid and getting it corrected. This does not mean dispute them, but take the necessary steps to get them removed or corrected.

Make Payments On Time

Timely payments on your bills can have a positive impact on your credit score. It can be tough to keep up with payments but it's important to budget accordingly to ensure you are able to make your payments by the due date.

Avoid Opening New Lines of Credit

A new line of credit may temporarily ding your credit. If at all possible, avoid opening a new line of credit, unless you've been advised by a professional to do so. In some cases, a new line of credit may make a difference in the long run to improve your score.

Pay Down High Credit Debts

Your credit usage has a big impact on your score. It's best to keep your credit usage at 30% of your total credit limit. That means you should try to keep your credit card balances under 30% of the credit limit. Evaluate your current lines of credit and see where changes can be made to pay down higher debts.

What are you waiting for? Now is the time to put these tips into action to help improve your credit score. Whether you’re looking to buy a home at Lake of the Ozarks right away or you’re preparing for the future, Team Lasson is here to help through the entire process. Perks of Buying a Home at Lake of the Ozarks this Fall

The leaves are changing and it's finally feeling like Autumn around Lake of the Ozarks! You may be getting cozy in your home, but it's actually a fantastic time to buy a home at Lake of the Ozarks. Our Lake Ozark, MO mortgage lender is here to point out a few of the perks of buying this time of year!

Get in New Home Before Holidays

Buy now and celebrate Christmas in your new home! If you purchase a home this time of year, you have a good chance of getting closed & moved in before the holidays. Whether you host a large group or you keep it simple, carry on those holiday traditions in your new home this year!

Pleasant House Hunting & Moving Weather

The temps have dropped and it's the time of year when it's very nice to spend time outside. Shopping for homes brings you in and out of various properties around the area -- the weather this time of year makes it even more enjoyable! Also moving involves a lot of in and out of your new home. Avoid the blistering summer heat and frigid snow covered ground on moving day when your buy now!

Check Out Seasonal Views

Many homes around Lake of the Ozarks claim a seasonal view. You get to actually see what that looks like before you commit to a property. It's best to see it before you buy and that's exactly what you get a chance to do when you house hunt this time of year!

Change in Interest Rate

The interest rates took a sharp spike in recent months and trends tell us that rates tend to drop some after a rapid increase like we experienced. Experts are saying that rates will lower so now is the time to get pre-approved so you can take advantage of that potentially lower interest rate when they become available.

Eager Sellers

If a home is listed for sale this time of year, the sellers are usually ready to get out & into their new property before the holiday season or by the first of the year. Take advantage of the sellers being a bit more eager in this market and secure your home this fall!

If you're ready to jump into house hunting this fall, our mortgage lenders in Lake Ozark, MO are here for you! To get pre-approved for a home loan at Lake of the Ozarks, give us a call at (573) 746-7211 or visit our website at www.yourlakeloan.com to get started!

Quick Savings Tips to Prep for a Down Payment

Saving for a down payment for a home can be intimidating. It's actually one of the factors that keep many potential homeowners from purchasing. A traditional loan has a stigma of needing a 20% down payment and that simply isn't always the case. There are many financing options that don't require the traditional 20% upfront. While the whole 20% isn't always required, there may be a smaller percentage of the loan needed as a down payment when you buy a home at Lake of the Ozarks. Our team of mortgage professionals in Lake Ozark, MO is here to point out a few tips for saving up for a down payment!

Lower Monthly Bills

The cost of many services creeps up over time. For example, your phone bill, cable bill, and recurring subscription payments may have increased from when you first signed up. You can actually call your provider and ask about a lower rate. It does take some time spent on the phone with the billing departments of the services you use, but getting a lower monthly payment is well worth the time invested!

Sell Unused Items

If you are like many of us, you have items laying around or in storage that you don't use anymore. Consider selling items that you no longer want or use. That's just one less thing to move when it comes time to purchase your new place! It's also a quick way to get some extra cash in your hand!

Cancel Unused Subscriptions

Many people have subscriptions that they do not even use. The charges come out of your account every month without you even thinking about it. Take a look at any monthly subscriptions you may have signed up for and examine which ones you are actually using. Cancel any unused subscription services that you have coming out of your accounts.

Keep an Eye on Your Spending

If you really sit down and look at your monthly bank statement, you may be spending more than you realize. When you're out shopping, really consider if the item you're considering purchasing is worth it. Is spending money on that specific item now going to help you reach your goal of owning a home? Putting that extra question in your purchasing decisions can help you cut back on extra spending! Watching the amount of money that goes out each month can really help you get on the fast track to saving!

Cut Back on Eating Out

Eating out or drinking out (yes, we are talking to you sitting there with your $5 coffees :)) can add up quickly! The cost of food and service is on the rise -- make an effort to cook at home. Eating at home a couple nights a week and brewing a cup of coffee at home instead of out can make a big difference in your budget!

If you're ready to look into your home purchasing options at Lake of the Ozarks, call Team Lasson at (573) 746-7211 or visit our website at www.yourlakeloan.com to get started!
